About us

Yourself is a Social Enterprise organization dedicated to empowering ethnic and rural communities in Bangladesh. Over the past nine years, we have been working tirelessly to provide essential support and resources to underserved ethnic groups. Our mission centers around promoting social equality, protecting traditional cultures, and fostering sustainable development in rural and ethnic communities. With a focus on working with 12 ethnic groups, we understand their unique challenges and needs. We aim to empower these communities while safeguarding their cultural heritage. Our vision extends to working with the Asin ethnic group in the future, ensuring their inclusion and cultural preservation. In addition to our social and community initiatives, Yourself is actively involved in promoting Bangladesh Sericulture Development, with a future vision to launch an Ethnic Fashion Brand that showcases the beauty and uniqueness of the ethnic communities we serve, which will enable the ethnic community people to become financially solvent.

Yourself is a purpose-driven initiative committed to empowering ethnic and rural communities in Bangladesh through sustainable development, cultural preservation, education, and advocacy. We work to enhance livelihoods by providing resources, skills, and opportunities that promote self-sufficiency and long-term prosperity.

A core part of our mission is preserving and promoting the rich cultural heritage of ethnic communities. We actively support traditional dress, craftsmanship, fashion, and motifs, ensuring these cultural expressions are protected, revitalized, and shared with wider audiences.

Education remains a cornerstone of our work, with targeted programs designed to improve access to quality education for underserved rural and ethnic populations. In parallel, we advocate for the rights of ethnic communities—particularly regarding land, resources, and cultural protection—by amplifying their voices in policy and development discussions.

Yourself also supports Bangladesh Sericulture Development, promoting sustainable silk farming practices that strengthen rural economies and improve the livelihoods of farmers. Looking ahead, we envision launching an Ethnic Fashion Brand that blends traditional craftsmanship with contemporary design, creating a sustainable platform for ethnic artisans to showcase their work globally while generating meaningful economic opportunities.

Over the years, Yourself has made significant strides in empowering ethnic and rural communities in Bangladesh. Some of our key achievements include:

  • Establishing lasting partnerships with local and international organizations to expand our reach and deepen our impact.
  • Empowering 12 ethnic communities through programs that focus on education, healthcare, cultural preservation, and economic development.
  • Promoting ethnic dress, culture, and fashion through workshops, exhibitions, and cultural events, raising global awareness of the beauty and significance of these traditions.
  • Supporting sustainable silk production through Bangladesh Sericulture Development, benefiting local farmers and communities involved in the sericulture industry.
  • Laying the groundwork for the development of an Ethnic Fashion Brand that will elevate the artistry and craftsmanship of ethnic communities while providing economic opportunities for artisans.

Our vision is a world where ethnic and rural communities in Bangladesh are fully integrated into society, enjoying equal access to resources, opportunities, and recognition. We aim to create a future where cultural diversity is celebrated, and ethnic groups are empowered to preserve their traditions while thriving in the modern world.

In the coming years, Yourself seeks to extend its work to include the Asin ethnic community, ensuring they receive the support and respect they deserve. Additionally, we aim to expand our efforts in Bangladesh Sericulture Development, further strengthening the silk industry and creating new pathways for rural artisans. Our long-term goal is to successfully launch the Ethnic Fashion Brand, blending tradition with modernity and giving ethnic artisans a global platform to showcase their skills.
